When I came to visit the site this morning the door to the front room was already bricked up and the partition wall between he toilet and what was Thomas' study has also come down. It gives a better feel of how big the bathroom is going to be. Should be nice.
Warren hopes that by then the bottom part of the bay has been built so that they can put the meter on the side of bay.
I went back home for a rest and checked emails. I received one from Alison Powell and was copied to Peter our neighbour
Dear Karina
I hope you are well.
Just to let you know that I’ve just lost my water supply. I’ve just spoken to your builders and pointed out that it would have been helpful to have had advance notice of this. They said that you had thought that the pipe only served those two houses.
In fact, as I understand it, when Bob at no 70 had the low water pressure at their house investigated he was told that the water comes from Primrose Street to the six houses in the row i.e. 80, 78, 76, 74, 72 and 70. By the time it reaches no 70 it is the end of the line and the pressure coming out of the taps is therefore quite low. In the longer term Bob and I are considering moving to sole supply (i.e. a pipe each from the mains off Victoria Road).
In terms of today, the builders have said that my water should be back on in half an hour and I will be speaking to them again if this is not the case.
Best wishes
Alison
I followed up on this and saw Warren. They had accidentally knocked the mains of number 80 so water was spouting out all over the place. So they stopped the water in the street. They could of course not have given advance notice as it was an accident. They went out of their way to tell the rest of the row that they water would be off for a little while, whilst they went to get tools and equipment to stop the water running on Darren and Sarah's side.
I sent an email to Alison and Peter to explain what has happened.
Dear Alison,
Just to let you know that I went to see the builders and found out that they had an accident with the water supply at number 80. Water was pouring out of they water mains, so they had to switch it off from the water mains in the street. As they did not foresee this they could not have given warning to anyone.
I think it should all be fine by now.
Hope that explains the sudden loss of water.
Have a good day
regards
Karina
